Destination Rotorua

Rotorua is well known for its 18 lakes, three major rivers and many ways of enjoying  them. Swimming, fishing, lakeside picnicking, paddle boarding and other water sports, so many options!

You can also soak your worries away at one of two secluded thermal hot water beaches accessible only by boat, luxury catamaran, floatplane or by walking. Take a canoe, kayak or paddle board tour across a lake to see glowworms at night.

Do you prefer something a bit more action packed? Choose from an exhilarating jet boat experience through a challenging man-made course at break-neck speed, or scream across Lake Rotorua in a jet boat that takes you to pristine Mokoia Island.  One of our favourite tours is called The Squeeze; it combines a jet boat ride with a unique geothermal experience to a natural hot water fall in a hidden geothermal valley.

Finally, one of Rotorua’s world-famous adventures and a must-do for adrenaline junkies; a whitewater rafting trip on the famous Kaituna River where you’ll drop off the world’s highest commercially raftable waterfall!!

Spouting geysers, bubbling mud pools, steaming vents, boiling lakes and colourful terraces are just about everywhere in and around Rotorua.

Beside taking advantage of Rotorua's glorious hot pools, you must make time to check out the spectacular geothermal parks, each one so different from the other! These incredible, surreal places will leave you in awe and provide the most amazing backdrop for your photography.

KuirauPark

Be sure to make time for Kuirau Park, just a few minutes walk from the city centre. Meandering paths through this park take you to see mud pools and hot pools (too hot for bathing!). Then, take a load off and soak your feet in the free foot bath.
